Video Quality

	VCR Quality. May have brief minor tracking or clarity issues.

	Constant artifacts due to tracking/source quality. Difficult to watch.

Audio Quality

	Clean, well rendered audio, of proper volume. No major flaws or weaknesses, but not as rich or full as 5
	Audible hiss or scratchyness, or distracting noise, or severly clipped range, or significantly lowered volume.
	Distorted audio on a significant portion, such that listening is difficult, rendering lines unintelligable, or if audio cuts out.

Encode Quality

	Significantly better than the source. Outstanding craftmanship in applying digital filters to both audio and video.
	No Discernable motion blocks. The video is smooth and consistant. All standards are followed.
	Analog or digital artifacts are present in some scenes. Effort was made to clean up the source, but you can still tell it came from a VHS tape. Minor deviations from DAP standards.
	Excessive macroblocking or other playback problems, including noticible loss of A/V sync. Little effort was made to clean up the source, or cleanup efforts would have been futile.

Overall Quality

	Archival Quality. Flawless audio and video. No compression artifacts.
	VCR quality audio and video. No major compression or digital artifacts.Complete and well edited.
	Tracking errors or audible hissing/popping resulting in momentary loss of audio/video. Compression artifacts present during high motion scenes. May be missing short segments.
	Constant artifacts due to tracking/poor source. Difficult to watch. Poor compression resulting in macroblocking or otherwise inhibiting playback.
	Might as well get a bootleg VCD from Hong Kong.
